PTTW-Logos-BLUE.pngToday, Life Fitness announced that Nuffield Health, the U.K.’s largest healthcare charity, will serve as the global stage for the Personal Trainers to Watch live competition, where the world’s top personal trainer will be selected. The event, to be held on Sept. 27, 2013, at St. Albans Fitness and Wellbeing Centre, will bring together the competition’s top 10 finalists who will compete and be judged based on training technique using the Life FitnessSynrgy360 personal training system.

The Life Fitness Academy, the education arm of Life Fitness, will host a Synrgy360 workshop to develop and observe the trainers as the final component to the judging process.  The Personal Trainers to Watch finalists will experience and create dynamic, total-body exercises, with the Synrgy360 system which offers unlimited training possibilities.

Last month we talked about how the personal training industry is growing rapidly around the world. It’s a great profession that I am proud to be a part of as an in-home trainer and Life Fitness Academy Master Trainer. But what does it take to be a great personal trainer? Many of the skills that make me successful today, I learned on the rugby pitch.

Some of the most professional personal trainers I have seen operating on the gym floor have been present or ex-rugby players. It’s a sport where you have no place to hide! You are one of fifteen team players with a very specific skill. You might be a speedy winger or you could be a powerful front row player.

Why you ask is this relevant to personal training?
