Life Fitness President Elected as MDA National Vice President
September 12, 2012 // Category: Our People
On behalf of the Life Fitness family and friends, we’d like to congratulate Life Fitness President Chris Clawson on his unanimous election as the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) National Vice President, part of the organization’s volunteer leadership.
Chris has worked with the MDA for 7 years, extending the bridge between the fitness industry and the MDA that Life Fitness co-founder Augie Nieto established in 2005, when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease).
Since his diagnosis, Augie has worked with the MDA’s ALS division to coordinate a cure-driven fundraising campaign called Augie’s Quest. Having evolved his career under Augie’s watchful eye, Chris champions the cause through fundraising, event support, encouraging friends and family to get involved and through Life Fitness corporate initiatives.
In 2011, Chris inspired Life Fitness to introduce a special edition Augie’s Quest Lifecycle exercise bike, paying homage to the man who introduced the Lifecycle name to the world. A $500 donation to the MDA is made on the sale of every Augie’s Quest Lifecycle sold.
The National Vice President’s role serves a broader group of Vice Presidents nationwide to provide expertise, guidance and advice to the MDA’s leadership on matters that ensure the organization continues on pace to meet its goals and to fulfill its ultimate mission of finding treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases.
