Celebrity Cruises' Newest Ship Offers Guests Stylish Exercise Innovation Through Life Fitness Elevation Series

SCHILLER PARK, Ill., May 26, 2009 – Known for delivering outstanding service on its comfortably sophisticated ships, Celebrity Cruises has long been a leader in the cruising industry, and is popular among families, baby boomers, retirees and group vacationers. In 2008, with the launch of the 2,850-guest Celebrity Solstice, the cruise line introduced a brand-new class of ships marked by extraordinary style, class and innovation. Brought to life by some of the world's top architects and designers, who worked in partnership with Celebrity's own "newbuild" and design team, the ships feature spacious accommodations, world-class restaurants, and a variety of on-board activities, including several industry firsts.

When it came to the fitness center on this new class of ships, the designers wanted to create an exercise space reflective both of Celebrity Cruises' long-standing commitment to providing an authentic guest experience, and the ship's style-and-design-driven ambience. To this end, they chose to outfit the ship's center with the most innovative fitness equipment that would benefit a variety of exercisers' ages and abilities. All this was to help Celebrity cruise passengers maintain their fitness goals while vacationing aboard the ships.

"Our guests have a variety of fitness levels; each exerciser has different needs," said Susan Bonner, director, Onboard Revenue, Celebrity Cruises. "Unlike a hotel or resort, we don't have the luxury of being able to bring in new parts or products at any time, so durability is equally important to style. The experts at Life Fitness directed us to the state-of-the-art Elevation™ Series Treadmills, Elliptical Cross-Trainers and Lifecycle® Exercise Bikes, exactly the type of high-end, durable, flexible fitness equipment our guests expect from us."

Celebrity Cruises installed 16 Life Fitness Elevation Series Treadmills, nine Elliptical Cross-Trainers and six Lifecycle Exercise Bikes on the Celebrity Solstice. The equipment features touch screen technology, iPod® connectivity, an on-console Virtual Trainer and Nike+ iPod compatibility, enabling users to make their workout more engaging.

"The Elevation Series equipment aboard Celebrity Solstice offers an engaging and ground-breaking workout experience for passengers. This innovative fitness equipment reflects the luxury experience guests are receiving on the rest of the ship," said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. "Building high-tech, long-lasting, and durable equipment is a top priority at Life Fitness. It's satisfying to know that this equipment is helping thousands of people aboard the ship achieve healthier lives."

Today the equipment is used most often on sea days from 7 - 11 a.m., and from 2 - 6 p.m. as the ship sails across the Caribbean or Mediterranean. "The Life Fitness equipment is durable, long-lasting and is extremely popular with the guests who have already experienced Celebrity Solstice. We're glad Life Fitness has been able to provide this equipment for our passengers," Bonner said.
