SAN FRANCISCO, March 17, 2009 – Through its premium entertainment options, the Elevation™ Series by Life Fitness provides a fitness experience for people of all ages and fitness abilities that simultaneously engages the body and the mind.
Each of the products in the family (Engage™ and Inspire™ Consoles) come equipped with seamless iPod® and iPhone™ integration; USB connectivity to create, store and track workout information through the company's Virtual Trainer Web Site; Nike + iPod compatibility; vibrant Workout Landscape™ Perspectives; a Zoom Feature; and an on-console Virtual Trainer to motivate and educate exercisers.
"Personalized entertainment features allow exercisers to engage their mind, distracting them from the burn of a cardio workout," said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. "Now, exercisers can tune out by listening to their iPods or iPhones, or by watching videos or TV, all while engaging their bodies in an intensive workout."
Seamless iPod and iPhone integration allows exercisers to navigate through their music playlists and view iPod or iPhone-delivered video content directly on the Engage or Inspire Consoles. Users can also plug in and charge their iPods or iPhones, while safely storing their devices in the holding tray.
Taking Workouts to the Web
Adding a personal touch to workouts, Life Fitness created the new Life Fitness Virtual Trainer Web Site (www.virtualtrainer.lifefitness.com), which enables exercisers and trainers to plan, create and track workouts.
Designed to link exercisers and equipment, the Web site's interactive, online program harnesses the data that exercisers store on a USB device through the integrated USB port on the Elevation Series products. It also makes it easier for exercisers to "get on and go," by simply plugging a USB device into the equipment's USB port and selecting the desired program created on the Web site. The machine automatically adjusts to the chosen workout.
Members of the Web site can also share workout programs with their "buddies" and manage their own Workout Calendar, which provides daily fitness reminders. Users can also access personalized workout programming based on their goals.
On-console Virtual Trainer – the Face of the Future
Life Fitness recognized the growing need to provide ongoing workout support for a broader range of exercisers. Both the Engage and Inspire Consoles provide exercisers with a unique tool at their fingertips – the Life Fitness on-console Virtual Trainer – to motivate and educate them over the duration of their workout.
The Virtual Trainer takes the intimidation out of beginning a new workout and provides ongoing encouragement. With the push of a button, exercisers can select a male or female trainer who appears on the integrated LCD touch screen and advises the user on every aspect of the workout, from describing workout programs to updates on workout progress.
The Nike + iPod Experience
Nike + iPod users are now able to simply plug their 3rd or 4th generation iPod nano or 2nd generation iPod touch into the any of the Elevation Series products at the start of their workout to record their results. Through Nike + iPod, exercisers are able to track progress, set goals and take part in challenges on nikeplus.com.
When Elevation Series users connect their iPod nano or iPod Touch to their computer, their workout data is then sent to nikeplus.com through iTunes®. Workout data is converted to "CardioMiles," so that users of cardio equipment can easily set goals and participate in challenges with runners and with users of other cardio equipment.
Workout Landscape Perspectives
The Elevation Series products also feature the visually appealing Workout Landscape Perspectives, which enable exercisers to select one of three motivating landscapes during their workout – Mountain, 400-meter track or 5K Nature Trail. Exercisers can make on-the-fly perspective changes by pressing the designated button on the LCD screen.
Zoom in on Fitness
To accommodate a broad range of exercisers, the Zoom feature enlarges speed, time and incline (treadmill only) or level displays for workout data viewing.
