Life Fitness Helps Disney's Kidani Village Deliver "Survival of the Fittest" Fitness Center

SCHILLER PARK, IL– Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Lines are known for their family entertainment, good food and adventurous accommodations. So when the Disney Vacation Club wanted to build an additional building at the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, operators knew the facility – and its amenities – would have to be "wild."

What resulted was the Kidani Village, an African-style resort with 340 two-bedroom equivalent villas and more than 30 species of wildlife roaming freely on a nearby 46-acre wildlife preserve. The resort boasts a 4,700-square-foot swimming pool with a 128-foot-long slide, programs offering up close encounters with exotic creatures, and an animal-themed water playground for children.

When it came to creating the fitness center, the designers knew they needed a space that reflected the wildness of the African jungle and the class of Walt Disney World Resorts. The team turned to the experts at Life Fitness to help them outfit the "Survival of the Fittest Fitness Center' with innovative fitness equipment to motivate guests.

"At Kidani Village, we want guests to feel inspired by the African culture and animals they see around them. But, we also want them to be inspired and motivated in the fitness center," said Russ Oja, Director, Corporate Alliances, Walt Disney World Resorts. "The experts at Life Fitness directed us to the state-of-the-art fitness equipment that our guests expect."

Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge installed Life Fitness Elevation Series Treadmills, Elliptical Cross-Trainers and Lifecycle Exercise Bikes. The equipment features touch screen technology, iPod connectivity an on-console Virtual Trainer as well as Nike+ iPod compatibility, enabling users to make their workouts more engaging.

"The Elevation Series equipment at Kidani Village offers the most entertaining workout experience for guests and reflects the engaging and interactive nature of the resort," said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. "It's satisfying to know that this equipment is helping thousands of people at the resort continue their quest to lead healthier lives." Today, Kidani Village staff say that the fitness center is busy every day and most popular in the mornings and early evenings.
