Life Fitness Amps Up Elevation Series With Range of New Features

Engage Line Harnesses Tech Upgrades and Green Advances

SCHILLER PARK, Ill., March 10, 2011– Life Fitness will introduce an amped-up version of its Elevation series cardio line at the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) trade show beginning March 17, 2011. The new Elevation series will showcase several new tech upgrades to its Engage console, a hybrid feature that adds people-powered entertainment options, an upcoming smartphone app and ePub reader.

Marking the industry as the first cardio line to offer seamless iPod® compatibility, the Life Fitness Elevation series gets a high-tech makeover.

“Internet content is shaping the workout experience and Life Fitness is quickly evolving its cardio line to tap into technology and feature offerings that let exercisers maximize their workouts,” said Chris Clawson, president, Life Fitness.

In coordination with the company’s “Green to Go” initiative to develop products and processes that respects the Earth’s resources, Life Fitness created a hybrid energy-saving feature to work in conjunction with the Elevation Series Engage Cross-Trainers and Lifecycle exercise bikes. The integrated LCD TV on the Engage product is the first-of-its-kind to utilize the power generated from a user’s workout.  The new hybrid products switch automatically from electric to self-generated power when a user reaches a certain intensity level in the workout, lowering the energy draw from the console by more than 75 percent.

Announced last month, Life Fitness will also preview its new Virtual Trainer smartphone app which will allow users to track workout progress while on the go. The app will sync with the Life Fitness Virtual Trainer Website, letting exercisers update workout results on both the website and their smartphone. A library of additional training features such as recommended workouts, music packs, and GPS will also be available as add-ons for purchase.

The company will also showcase its new Life Fitness Reader which lets users read documents such as books and articles right on the Engage console.  Using the standard eBook format ePub, this feature lets users store documents on a USB and read them right from the console.

“Our users are busy people and we’re making sure our products support not only a healthy lifestyle, but also their daily life activities,” said Clawson. “By adding features like the Life Fitness Virtual Trainer app and the Life Fitness Reader, we’re streamlining activities for exercisers.”
