SCHILLER PARK, Ill., September 20, 2012– Life Fitness, global leader in commercial fitness equipment manufacturing, announced the release of an open API (Application Programming Interface), making it the first fitness equipment-maker to open its product platform. This new access for developers, called LFopen, enables third-parties, including fitness facilities, to create unique, new applications that work directly with Life Fitness equipment.

Establishing a link between an exerciser’s digital life and the workout experience, LFopen will provide developers with access to future Life Fitness equipment software technology and the ability to customize apps leveraging workout presets, workout results, real time monitoring and more. Facility owners and managers can take advantage of open platform products to create customer-branded solutions and offer exercisers the most up-to-date content and entertainment to improve the workout experience.

- Improving on-product experience with fresh content for exercisers
