Exeter High School Senior Scores a Touchdown in Academics and Athletics

SCHILLER PARK, Ill., March 4, 2009 – Balancing the sport he loves, academics and a high school social life, is not a struggle for Exeter, California's Exeter Union High School senior, Cameron Loeffer. As a running back and strong safety, he has invested himself completely into his performance on and off the field. He entered the football program as a freshman at 150 pounds and after four years of strength and agility-training, now weighs a sturdy 195 pounds. He is a top most valuable player candidate in the Central Sequoia League and led his football team in a 9-0 undefeated season.

For his devotion and commitment to the game and his academics, Loeffer was chosen as a runner-up in the first Hammer Strength High School Football Player of the Year contest. The award honors student-athletes who demonstrate consistent dedication in four key areas: work ethic, effort, leadership and academics. He will receive a plaque by Hammer Strength, a Hammer Strength T-shirt and will be profiled on the Life Fitness Web site as well as the March issue of American Football Monthly magazine.

"Cameron is an exceptional athlete, remarkable student and, most importantly, humble in spirit," said Pete Renteria, strength and conditioning coach for Exeter. "I have never seen such a work ethic in all the athletes that I have coached and trained like Cameron's."

Not only is Loeffer an extraordinary athlete, he is an exceptional student with a grade point average of 3.9 and a SAT score of 1510, well above the nation's average.

He is currently enrolled in AP calculus and plans to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, or the University of Nevada, Reno, next fall.

"Cameron not only excels in the sport of football, but also in his academics as well," said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. "He is able to balance the many schedule challenges high school students face, which is very impressive."
