As product management director, I have had the privilege of working with some great teams in developing and launching products for Life Fitness. I have been at the company since 2004, and worked as an outside design consultant to Life Fitness earlier in my career. Having worked and consulted for several consumer product and technology companies over the years, it’s the passion to innovate that has been a continuing theme for me and the teams I have worked with.

The days of feeling like you’re running on a hamster wheel or ‘climbing the stairs to nowhere’ are over. According to a recent Life Fitness survey, today’s tech-savvy exercisers not only want more from their equipment; they need more to keep them on track to reach their fitness goals and achieve results. Exercisers are no longer satisfied with static, impersonal displays and consoles; they want dynamic, interactive exercise technology, access to their personal files and fitness content, internet browsing, and on-demand videos. No product on the market has fulfilled all of these expectations – and more – until now.

Enter Discover  treadmills, bikes and elliptical cross-trainers, full of features that no cardio equipment has offered before, including:

On February 29th, 2012, Life Fitness produced the 500,000th treadmill at our Franklin Park, Ill. factory. The first Life Fitness treadmill ever produced was the TR9500 (also known as “The Tank”) in August of 1991. During that first year we averaged ten treadmilles per day. Needless to say we’ve perfected the art since then and today our team averages 177 treadmills per day!

The entire Life Fitness team wants to thank you – our customers, partners and fans – for  your loyalty, without which we never could have passed that half-million mark.
