LSU BUILDS FOR THE FUTURE

LSU football has a storied past that includes nearly 800 wins and three national championships. A big reason for the success of the Bayou Bengals is strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt. The strength training guru has been at LSU since 2000 and has been a part of a pair of national championships in 2003 and 2007.

Now, one of the nation’s best strength coaches oversees one of the best training facilities in NCAA Division I athletics.

FACILITY OVERVIEW

In the summer of 2016, LSU unveiled its gleaming 15,500 square foot weight room, which was a massive renovation of an 11-year-old facility. The project took nearly three years to plan and implement, but the results are impressive.

The space includes rows of rugged Hammer Strength HD Elite racks configured to Moffitt’s specifications and dozens of Hammer Strength plate-loaded pieces. A state-of-the-art stereo system and nearly 40 flat screen TVs keep athletes motivated during workouts.

“We can train multiple sports and we can have larger football groups, which increases the workout intensity." -Tommy Moffit, Strength & Conditioning Coach
