Unique, premium facility design MEETING GUESTS’ AND MEMBERS’ NEEDS
In refurbishing its gym, Foxhills wanted to create a modernised fitness facility with the “wow factor”. Used by club members, hotel guests and gym members alike, the space needed to meet a wide range of training requirements, whilst also tapping into current fitness trends. Combining state-of-the-art fitness equipment with integrated technology and a contemporary aesthetic, the new gym floor was designed to feel open and welcoming, with equipment carefully located within distinct zones to maximise the user experience.
A partnership approach FULL TURNKEY SOLUTION
The Foxhills team were looking for more than just a fitness equipment supplier; they wanted a partner that could add value to the entire project. Following a competitive tender process, Life Fitness was chosen, with its partnership-led approach and ability to provide holistic support to the planned refurbishment cited as key factors in the decision-making process. This support included bringing in a design partner and fit-out contractor to manage and deliver the project from start to finish.
A key consideration in the new gym design was its location directly above the spa. Equipment needed to be carefully chosen and positioned to minimize noise and vibrations. Additionally, low ceiling heights in some areas presented a challenge in accommodating various pieces of equipment while still maintaining the light and airy atmosphere that Foxhills desired.

A premium fitness facility requires top-tier equipment, and Foxhills became the first site in the UK to install the Symbio cardio line. Symbio is designed to provide the ultimate fitness experience, setting a new standard in premium cardio equipment with its innovative and immersive features. The Foxhills gym boasts all four unique pieces – the Symbio Runner, SwitchCycle™, Recumbent Cycle, and Incline Elliptical – offering users meticulous design, advanced biomechanics, and an unparalleled sensory workout experience.
Integrated digital solutions ADVANCING THE USER EXPERIENCE
Foxhills wanted to be at the forefront of innovation with its new fitness facility, integrating advanced technology throughout the gym to enhance the user experience at every touchpoint.
In addition to selecting the Life Fitness Symbio cardio range, the Connect System was installed. When used with the Life Fitness Connect app, exercisers can access coaching tips, on-demand instructor-led workouts, and track their progress against personal fitness goals.
Gym staff at Foxhills can also utilize Trainer Connect, a comprehensive platform for delivering personalized coaching both in and out of the facility to boost exerciser engagement. All staff received full training on the Connect System.
