The YMCA has worked with Kent County to address the critical needs of an underserved community. The goal is to expand programming to help kids develop into healthy and well-rounded adults, encourage members to improve their health, create a sense of belonging, and support and care for vulnerable members of the community.
The project was a partnership between the YMCA of Chesapeake, the non-profit Dixon Group and Life Fitness. A strong product depth and the ability to provide the tools for the intended goals of the facility provided value to the YMCA.
While the focus is on seniors and the deconditioned, the YMCA also has a SYNRGY180 functional group training space, areas for Olympic lifting, and a SYNRGY/multi-jungle. An indoor cycling room is outfitted with ICG exercise bikes. There has been a significant growth in membership and the facility has become a community hub.
