What is your background and knowledge in fitness?
I have been passionate about fitness and wellness since I can remember. I’ve played tennis my entire life, which led me to a full athletic scholarship to college. Over the last 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people live healthier lives, both on a micro and macro level. My experience ranges from leading virtual and group fitness classes at top boutique studios in the US, to developing hardware and connected fitness products for Life Fitness.

I have a number of certifications, including the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification, ICG Cycling certification and USAW Olympic Weightlifting Coach Certification. I like to motivate my clients and help them visualize better versions of themselves. Whether that means becoming healthier, faster, stronger, or happier. I like to use different visualization examples that help them stay focused on the goal. It is my job to make them understand that change and progress doesn't occur overnight. And I make sure to be by their side celebrating every victory and milestone in their journey.
Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?
I have a non-traditional background as it relates to fitness. Yes, fitness has always been a part of my life. I've played tennis since I can remember and I've been going to the gym since I was 15 years old. However, right after high school I decided to follow the traditional route; first, getting a degree in business, then getting a corporate job, and then going to grad school to get an MBA. And it was exactly during business school that I had a realization. I was about to turn 30 and I realized that it was time to pursue my passion. Ironically, Life Fitness was recruiting at my school for corporate roles. I interviewed with them and the rest is history. I graduated with an MBA from the University of Chicago School of Business and joined Life Fitness as part of their leadership development program. Today, I consider myself fortunate as I am in a position where I am able to optimize people’s lives by combining my passion for fitness and my experience in business.

What is your background and knowledge in fitness?
My fitness career began with gymnastics and Volleyball as a child. I went on to play volleyball in college and got a job as a personal trainer in order to make extra money on the side. I ended up falling in love with training and turned it into a full time career.
Can you discuss your expertise and training style?
While I am no longer a gymnast or volleyball player, I still train as if I am. I appreciate the discipline and mental drive of challenging, manipulating and transforming the mind and body to its full potential as all athletes do. I believe that everyone has an inner athlete and superhero but not everyone has had the luxury and opportunity of discovering it. My workouts are tough but with the right mindset they are do-able. I teach people to be patient and listen to their bodies so they can push past the most difficult moments in their workouts, which will lead to pushing past the difficulties in life. My motto: Train Your Body. Train Your Mind. Strength starts in your mind. You must first believe you are strong, then your body will follow.
Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?
Fitness helped me build grit and the ability to persevere through the toughest times in life. Fitness gave and helped me build a community and foundation of like minded people. Fitness helped me to not only see my own potential but achieve my potential. Fitness helped me realize that nothing is impossible.
Fitness helped me discover that all of the lessons and training sessions in the gym could be translated into real life. I want everyone who takes my classes to understand that everything is interconnected. The stress we experience in a class is the same stress we experience in life. There are moments of joy and success, as well moments of self defeat and failure. But your mindset is what determines how and if you move forward. Self awareness starts when you are under duress. Self discovery is how you come out of it.

Commit to 2-3 days at a time for the first month and if you can fit in a 3rd or 4th day then great! Then next month add on more. Know that every day is going to be different because there are so many variables that affect your energy and mindset such as sleep, work, food intake, environment and personal life. Be kind to yourself on the days that you have low energy and take advantage of the days that you are fully prepared. As long as you give 100% of what you have everyday then you are on track to success.

I have always been interested in developing and expanding skills. I don't like quick fixes and shortcuts, functionality and the joy of movement is my priority. If necessary, even with heavy weights!
As an author, I have published books on functional training and nutrition and am currently conducting a trainer study in German-speaking countries.
Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?
The answer is very simple. One of the main reasons is my parents. My mother trains with a kettlebell and my father loves the barbell. Both have an extremely high quality of life. They both have goals that they still want to achieve using sport as a tool. Independence in old age, for example. Likewise, the ability to decide what they do, when, where and for how long.
Another reason for me is that in this profession you have to continuously develop yourself. As with training, you only achieve your goals through constant movement. The most beautiful job in the world, spending time with enthusiastic people and going on a sporting journey together with them, as well as feeling satisfaction from the skills you have developed in life due to experience and competence, is great.

PowerMill Climber, Elliptical, Upright Bike, and Recumbent Bike
What do you recommend to someone just getting started with Life Fitness On Demand and/or fitness in general?
Do your reps! Do your reps. Nothing is as mundane and challenging at the same time as the fact that movements only get better by constantly repeating them with increasing demand. This is best done by a person who understands how to teach people about movement (and, above all, how to enjoy it).
What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?
