The existing room felt disconnected from the sophistication of the property: limited space, inconsistent aesthetics, and equipment that no longer reflected what residents expected from a premium living experience.
The challenge became bigger and more inspiring — to transform the space into a cohesive, modern, and high-end fitness environment that would feel unmistakably “600 N Lakeshore Drive.”
Collaborating to create a space worthy of the address The Process
Life Fitness/Hammer Strength worked hand in hand with the property’s leadership to reimagine the possibilities of the amenity. Through a consultative approach, the team explored multiple layout concepts and expansion options to make the most of the available footprint — ensuring the final design would flow naturally alongside other upgraded amenities like the golf simulator and business center.
To maintain resident satisfaction during construction, Life Fitness helped repurpose unused spaces into temporary training zones — one for cardio and another for strength — allowing residents to stay active throughout the renovation.
When installation began, the focus was on creating a seamless blend of design and functionality. The final plan paired cutting-edge cardio equipment featuring Discover SE4 consoles with a curated strength and functional training area, all unified by a sleek, modern aesthetic. To help residents feel comfortable and confident with their new space, a Life Fitness Academy trainer hosted a series of Q&A sessions, ensuring every detail — from equipment use to pairing earbuds — felt intuitive and approachable.
