One Luxury Residence Got Creative, And Smart, With Its Fitness Amenity
Since 555TEN opened in 2017, the midtown Manhattan development has offered a slew of amenities for residents of its luxury apartments. The modern 56-story high rise includes a rooftop pool and sundeck, a bowling alley, a pet care area and countless amazing views. It also includes not one, but two, extremely well-planned fitness areas.
555TEN employed two distinctly different spaces to create two completely different workout experiences. Ryan Masters, Vice President at Extell Development Company, managed the construction of the building. He frequently consulted with Life Fitness sales manager Lisa Wild to evaluate how to make the two areas unique.
The evolution resulted in a plan that other equipment suppliers weren't able to envision—smartly designed workout areas that have something for every resident.
12th Floor Gym
The 12th floor gym is a staffed premium health club outfitted with ample cardio equipment like treadmills, cross-trainers and a PowerMill climber.
The strength training offering includes Insignia selectorized equipment, a dual-adjustable pulley, and a Hammer Strength HD Elite half rack and bench. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the Manhattan skyline. The space also includes an indoor pool, locker rooms, a reception desk and trainers—all of which combine to create a complete health club atmosphere.
A Cellar gym is a smaller 24-hour space that includes some cardio equipment but also plenty of functional training tools like a Hammer Strength HD Elite combo rack and a SYNRGY360 system. Dumbbells and Olympic training options offered by the Hammer Strength rack allow for ample free weight training. The space is designed for both personal training and more rugged individual training.
“Rather than just make it a little version of the upstairs we thought it was an opportunity to do more functional training and not bother anyone because it’s in a basement,” explained Masters.
555TEN created two fitness centers that offer two distinctly different atmospheres and experiences. The result is a pair of fitness amenities that appeal to a wide range of exercisers.
